Isabelle Pateer’s work, The Unsettled, is about a group of people that are homeless in a community and are unsettled as the move from place to place. ”Unsettled” the photobook is a collection of portraits, the majority taken on film. Her work speaks for itself however, the title did cause some controversy due to the unspoken rule about her title. The idea of “show and not tell” is an unspoken rule in photography, where her title of her images are concerned does the opposite of telling the narrative, though her work does also show it. Still going slightly against that rule, but if it is unspoken, is it really a rule at all? As her work was still published and getting the recognition, she deserved for it and in a small way bringing a change to her subjects lives, through bringing awareness to their situation. Perhaps giving them a voice when they had none. I also find her work fascinated as it is all done on large format, as someone that has grown up with digital photography, I find myself drawn to the aesthetics of film.

Natasha Caruana is an interesting woman when she talks about the topics of her photography. Her work tends to be a record of something whether it’s love or a scandalous affair, though none of these topics quite the same as her “timely tale “ project. In this domestic project it was the instalment of her exhibition that I found fascinating. She dressed the venue to look like domestic family sets with furniture e.g. a wooden cupboard, chair, rug and lamp. She also dressed the venue to look like some sort of waiting area. The visitors got to sit in the waiting area and experienced the images on VR headsets. Even though we live in a digital age we don’t see the use of the VR much.

Rachel Brown’s works has worked at Haperz Bazaar and in her free time works on her personal work. Her current work is based on imagination stations, places and people that turn themselves into simulations for the entertainment of others. Most of her work is based in Florida as that tend to be where the recognizable imagination station attractions are. Rachel admitted to not being able to constantly do her personal work and has insisted that artist residences do help if you're stuck. As she has took part in several but her most notable ones were France in the beginning of her career, New York and Europe. Brown also talks about funding your efforts too. In doing so she has found herself walking for Tim walker and internships at magazines. She also worked at a boarding school to help her fund her work.
