Updated: Jul 24, 2023

The pleasures and terrors of domestic comfort is a PDF available at MoMo.

https://www.moma.org/documents/moma_catalogue_347_300063036.pdf

The PDF contains contemporary images from photographers that specialise in documenting the Home/family dynamic in a mundane and realistic way.(All photos devoted to life at home).

In this published pdf you will find works from:

Nan Goldin

Philip lorca Dicoria

Cindy Sherman

Robert Adams

David Prifti

And so many more

Having so a range of photographers would suggest that the works range in aesthetics .From documentary to the cinematic. To landscape to portraits.Though each image is an individual ,they come together harmonously to create this publication.Perhaps this is due to the rawness of the image created by the themes and anolouge cameras.

Below are several images from photographers that expressing life not being perfect but making it relaetble within the subgenre of family .

The most magic thing about photography is that it is not perfect allowing itself to have some humanity, showing that it is not a machine but a tool to record the human experiance. It is comforting knowing that photography has its imperfections and that we are the ones that place unrealistic standards on the image/society,and not allowing it to simply exist. Its imperfections show us that its real.
