Staying motivated and creating work has been a real challenge over the last year due to COVID-19 . However, artist and photographers over the past couple months have created challenges like the ghost challenge (which I did take part in) to keep our imaginations active and have also come up with new approaches to image making as the pandemic continued.
The first lockdown had brought up so many new ways to create imagery that we still use today. Some fashion brand like Dior went all out with their Tarot inspired campaign, that was beautifully done with high production standards, whereas some stripped it back completely to clean shots that solely focuses on the clothes.
Magazine covers were being shot by people in the celebrities’ bubble, some celebrities did self-portraits and some images were made through video calls. The trend does not look like it will be going away anytime soon, therefore artist have adapted to it and are now known for creating aesthetically captivating shots through a web camera.
Artists are slowly becoming more sustainable and are making waves by becoming more diverse in support of the Black Lives Matter movement and other historic moments that are happening alongside the publication.
As a community we have been able to adapt to the restrictions given to us and have produced a new wave of DIY photography and photography from home.
