Performance art is an art form, which expands over a multitude of practices from dance to fine art, that combines the visual with a dramatic flair. The practice is gaining momentum through out art practices and that includes photography. The idea of preforming to a camera is not a new concept as every photo we take, especially portraits, as we preform to the camera all the time subconsciously, performance art is a conscious decision, much like staged photographer which were made more accessible by the likes of Cindy Sherman in the 70-2000s and Sian Bonnell today.

Bonnell didn’t start as a photographer her background in the art industry was sculpting and working with sculptures. Over the years she has figured out that hiccups and problems are friends and that its ok to stop and take a break when it is needed. Most of er works that have caught my eye tend to be made when on an artist residency. Where Bonnell is recreating and preforming elements of saint Dominic’s nine prayers, which lead on to her using costumes and creating her project "saint catherine". The results of Sian's recreations are humorous and moving and these emotions are consistent throughout here works.
